Problem 5: An inductor with an inductance of 100 μH passes a current of 10 mA when its terminal voltage is 6.3 V. Calculate the frequency of A.C supply.

Given

Inductance, L = 100 μH = 100 × 10-6 H,
Current, I = 10 mA = 10 × 10-3 A
Voltage, V = 6.3 V

Asked

Frequency of supply, f

Solution

Frequency, f of the current is given by, f=XL/2πL. However, we don’t know the value of XL, therefore, we first find it.

Now put it in the equation for frequency.
