Question 3: What will be the frequency of a simple pendulum if its length is 1m?

ANSWER

We know that the time period T of a simple pendulum of length l is given by

Now in the given problem, l = 1m, therefore,

Similarly, frequency and time period of a pendulum is related as f = 1/T, so the frequency of the pendulum will be,

This equation represents the frequency of the pendulum with l = 1m.

Second Pendulum: A second pendulum in one whose period is exactly 2 seconds, i-e, one second in going one way and one second back. Principally its frequency should be 0.5 Hz.
Calculate the frequency of this pendulum by putting the value of g. Do you know why the small difference is?
