Problem 2: A long solenoid having 100 turns uniformly distributed over a length of 0.5 m produces a magnetic field of 2.5 x 10^-3 T at the center. Find the current in the solenoid?

Solution

Given data
No of turns in the solenoid = 1000, Length of solenoid = o.5 m

Since the turns are uniformly distributed, therefore, no of turns per unit length = 1000/0.5 = 2000

Magnetic field at the center of the solenoid = 2.5 * 10-3 T

Formula

Here μ0 is the permeability of free space and its value is 4π* 10-7 wb/A.m.

Put the values in the formula

This is the required answer.
