What is the wavelength of a television station which transmits vision on 500 MHz and sound on 505 MHz respectively? Take the speed of electromagnetic wave 3 × 108 ms-1.

Solution

Given

Vision frequency = f1 = 500 MHz = 500 × 106 Hz

Sound frequency = f2 = 505 MHz = 505 × 106 Hz

Speed of EM waves = v = 3 × 108 ms-1

Asked

Vision wavelength = λ1=?

Sound wavelength = λ2 =?

Formula               v = fλ

Using the above formula to find the wavelength λ1.

Television wavelength,

To find sound wavelength, λ2
