Question 10: How would you justify that light waves are transverse?
ANSWER
In transverse waves, the particles of the medium execute motion perpendicular to the direction of the propagation of the wave. The wave nature of light has already been proved by the phenomenon of reflection, interference etc, however, to know whether these waves are transverse or longitudinal remained undecided for some time.
It was experiments with the polarization effect which proved the transverse nature of light. We know only by experiments that only transverse waves can be polarized therefore, polarization of light is a sufficient argument for the transverse nature of light.
Thank you so much Sir G ❤️❤️❤️
Words are not enough to show my gratitude.
